WELCOME TO Chronic Fatigue Research France, INC.  NEWSLETTER

OUR MISSION:

Chronic Fatigue Research France Inc. is a non-profit organization maintained by sufferers of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.  Our mission is to improve the quality of life for fellow sufferers, while increasing public, governmental and medical awareness of these diseases, through education. ***************************************************************

A CHAT WITH THE EDITOR:

Every store I enter these days has a large display of hearts, cards, candy and teddy bears staring me in the face.    Aside from the commercialism of Valentine’s Day, we should be reminded of those wonderful “significant others” that stand beside us everyday.  It should be a time to say thank you to the person who holds you up when you are unable to stand on your own, the person who dries the tears of frustration and pain, the person who puts up with our mood swings, our forgetfulness.  A time to be aware of, and understanding of, the person that feels our pain almost as much as we do.  A time to remember and compliment all the little, and big, things they do everyday so that we don’t have to overwork ourselves.   A time to reassure them that we remember and appreciate all the support and love they give us even when we find it hard to love ourselves.

They may not always do as we wish, or say the things we want to hear, or be the person we need at the time, but they are still standing beside us. And for that, they deserve a mountain of praise and respect.

“Love feels no burden, thinks nothing of trouble, attempts what is above its strength, pleads no excuse of impossibility; for it thinks all things lawful for itself, and all things possible.”

** “Chronic Pain: 2. The Case for Opioids”, by Daniel Brookoff, offers an insightful look into the use of opioid medications.

“There is growing evidence…that too much pain can cause damage and even death. When pain is controlled, medications for the underlying disease or disorder tend to work better.”

You may want to take this in to your doctor.

** Welcome to Remedyfind…Sometimes being diagnosed with a health condition brings as much frustration as relief. Even with the best doctor care, many health problems just don't have clear-cut, predictable solutions. Out of necessity, many of us choose to become actively involved in our own healthcare decisions.

But making sense of all the treatment options can be enormously confusing. That's why we've created Remedyfind.  At Remedyfind we've listed the different treatments (remedies) that are used for specific health conditions. By giving a number rating to those remedies you have tried, you are able to share your personal health experiences with others.

THE MEDICINE OF LAUGHTER AND INSPIRATION
“There’s no fun in medicine, but there’s a lot of medicine in fun.” ~ Anonymous
**********************************************************************

Things They Said in 1959......

"No one can afford to be sick any more, $35 a day in the hospital
is too rich for my blood."

"I'll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are,
its' going to be impossible to buy a weeks groceries for $20."

Have you seen the new cars coming out next year? It won't be long
when $5000 will only buy a used one."

“If cigarettes keep going up in price, I'm going to quit. A quarter
a pack is ridiculous."

"Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging a dime just
to mail a letter?"

"If they raise the minimum wage to $1, nobody will be able to hire
outside help at the store."

"When I first started driving, who would have thought gas would
someday cost 50 cents a gallon. Guess we'd be better off leaving the car
in the garage."

"I'm afraid to send my kids to the movies any more. Ever since they
let Clark Gable get by with saying 'damn' in 'Gone With The Wind,' it
seems every movie has a 'hell' or a 'damn' in it."

"Also, it won't be long until couples are sleeping in the same bed
in the movies. What is this world coming to?"

"Marilyn Monroe is now showing her bra and panties, so apparently
there are no standards anymore."

"Did you see where some baseball player just signed a contract for
$75,000 a year just to play ball? It wouldn't surprise me if someday
they'll be making more than the president."

“Do you suppose television will ever reach our part of the
country?"

"I never thought I'd see the day all our kitchen appliances would
be electric. They are even making electric typewriters now."

"It's too bad things are so tough nowadays. I see where a few
married women are having to work to make ends meet."

"It won't be long before young couples are going to have to hire
someone to watch their kids so they can both work."

"I'm just afraid the Volkswagen car is going to open the door to a
whole lot of foreign business."

"Thank goodness I won't live to see the day when the Government
takes half our income in taxes. I sometimes wonder if we are electing
the best people to congress."

"Why in the world would you want to send your daughter to college?
Isn't she going to get married? It would be different if she could be a
doctor or a lawyer."

"I just hate to see the young people smoking. As I tell my kids,
'Don't take a cigarette from ANYONE. You never know what might be in
it."

"The drive-in restaurant is convenient in nice weather, but I
seriously doubt they will ever catch on."

"If a few idiots want to risk their necks flying across the country
that's fine, but nothing will ever replace trains."

“I don't know about you but if they raise the price of coffee to 15
cents, I'll just have to drink mine at home."

"If they think I'll pay 50 cents for a haircut, forget it. I'll
have my wife learn to cut hair."

"We won't be going out much any more. Our baby sitter informed us
she wants 50 cents an hour. Kids think money grows on trees."

FMS: STUDENT SEEKING VOLUNTEER CORRESPONDENTS
**********************************************************************

Dear List,

I am a second year nursing student at the University of Windsor
in Ontario. I am currently writing a paper on fibromyalgia for my
adult health nursing class.

The assignment is for me to correspond by email with people affected by
Fibromyalgia and RN's who have taken care of patients
with this health alteration. These perspectives are
to help me develop an in depth understanding from
different standpoints. The experiential standpoint is
very important to me as your personal experience
living with FM makes one an expert on it.

I also am looking for the clinical perspective to give me an
idea of the care I will provide for these clients in
the future. I am hoping to find at least one RN and
one client by joining this mailing list. Anyone who
is willing to help, your participation would be
greatly appreciated and the work on your part minimal.
All you would have to do would answer basic questions
relating to your experiences, current issues and
treatments and email them back to me. I will then
forward these on to my professor. These questions
will be the basis for my paper.

I really would appreciate anyone's input into this. Thank you for
your time, have a good night!  Katie Cumming
