WELCOME TO Chronic Fatigue Research France, INC.  NEWSLETTER

OUR MISSION:

Chronic Fatigue Research France Inc. is a non-profit organization maintained by sufferers of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.  Our mission is to improve the quality of life for fellow sufferers, while increasing public, governmental and medical awareness of these diseases, through education. ***************************************************************

A CHAT WITH THE EDITOR:

"We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves strong. The amount of work is the same." --Carlos Castenada

Our illnesses are not “all in our heads”, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t begin our fight against them there.   A positive attitude and a willingness to say “I can” will put us on a path to a stronger sense of self.   I truly believe we can be our own worst enemies, when we choose to accept that our new lives are only destined for misery.

We must believe that every new day will be a good one.   Maybe we should give ourselves a little pep talk before we get out of bed every morning.  Something similar to:

“My body is going to be strong today.  I am going to accomplish something good today.  I am going to will away any pain I am experiencing right now. I am going to live today.”

Sure, it may sound a little ridiculous, but what have we got to lose?  Facing each day with a positive manner can only improve us and make us strong.

May you all find some inner strength this week and may it make your days shine,

Michelle,  Editor

Being in a situation in which you seem to lack control can create a strong sense of helplessness. But, just as feelings of pessimism and despair can be learned in response to experience, so can optimism.

** Stomach acid is a paradoxical substance: too little can actually make you think you have too much. Many people think they have acid reflux or GERD, and they take Prilosec or other antacids to reduce the amount of stomach acid. In actuality, they may not have enough acid in their stomach to trigger the opening of a valve at its base.

** The Art of Drawing a Blank--Fibromyalgia and Memory

Okay, so you're still looking for that slip of paper with your doctor's new phone number on it. And you have yet to recover from the embarrassment of driving around town with the grocery bag perched on top of your car. And you still worry that your new boss will never forgive you for "blanking" on his name when you tried to introduce him to an important client. In short, it's hard to deny that your memory just isn't what it used to be. Does that mean you have a problem? If so, is fibromyalgia (FM) the cause? Or is there some other culprit? Or both?

Subject: FW: What do you say love is?

These are very wise children . . .

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, "What does love mean?"   The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think:

1. "When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love."   * Rebecca- age 8

2. "When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You know that your name is safe in their mouth."  * Billy- age 4

3. "Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs."  * Chrissy- age 6

4. "Love is when someone hurts you. And you get so mad but you don't yell at them because you know it would hurt their feelings." -- * Samantha- age 6

5. "Love is what makes you smile when you're tired." -- * Terri- age 4

6. "Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK." -- * Danny- age

7. "Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen." -- * Bobby- age 5

8. "If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate."
 -- * Nikka- age

9. "When you tell someone something bad about yourself and you're scared they won't love you anymore. But then you get surprised because not only do they still love you, they love you even more." -- * Matthew- age 7

10. "Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday." -- * Noelle- age 7

11. "Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well." --* Tommy - age 6

12. "My mommy loves me more than anybody. You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night." -- * Clare- age5

13. "Love is when mommy gives daddy the best piece of chicken." -- * Elaine- age 5

14. "Love is when mommy sees daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford." -- * Chris- age 8

15. "Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day."
-- * Mary Ann- age 4

16. "Love cards like Valentine's cards say stuff on them that we'd like to say ourselves, but we wouldn't be caught dead saying." -- Mike- age 8

17. "When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you." -- * Karen- age 7

18. "Love is when mommy sees daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross."
 --* Mark- age 6

19. "You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget." -- * Jessica- age 8

20. "Love is that first feeling you feel before all the bad stuff gets in the way." -- * Charlie

MAGNESIUM AND FM/CFS
**********************************************************************

During the past decade a great deal of research has been conducted about magnesium deficiencies. Many physicians and researchers believe that it is a key component in treating Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

** Two recently published studies suggest a possible organic explanation for Chronic Fatigue exists.  British scientists report that low levels of magnesium may play a part in this illness of unknown cause.

** Magnesium may be the most critical single supplement affecting patients with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), since known intracellular magnesium deficiencies exist in patients with this disorder
